Texas Independence Day

Texas Independence Day! Oil derricks and salt mines, cannons and cowboys/girls, and that nearly 200-year-old frontiering Texan attitude still lives on.

Obviously it's entrepreneurs who are the trailblazers of today. They're never safe, they risk everything-- it's dangerous, uncertain, heartbreaking, really crazy what they do. And they're stupid because nobody in their right mind would even think or dare such a thing... but there they go, set out to solve the problem. What can you even do to stop them? Most people just ignore. But a few Texans might help.

If there's a supportive environment to tackle big and important efforts, our state wins, because THEY win. This doesn't just mean being business-friendly, but *Texan mindset-friendly*. It starts with the mindset, that's the most important thing we can do to instill legacy.

We've got these great big mountains and beautiful bodies of water that define us geographically. Texas Independence means thousands of fellow Texans have fought to their death to define those boundaries. And now look at us, the size and stature of Texas in the world is impressive.

Even at that, it's really how we define our spirit that sets Texans apart. Several have been co-creating an experience that embodies that spirit. They’re doing it in all parts of this great big state, with the Texas Venture Fest. I've seen some of the most entrepreneurial, Texan-minded investors, family offices, universities, angel networks, startup development organization leaders, etc, with some of the highest offices and levels of our Texas government, plans to set the scene. I thought it was also equally important to invite this truly Texas-sized ecosystem of startup support to gather under one roof, so we co-created the Texas Venture Gala & Forum.

I chatted about this special Texan mentality, with venture capitalist, LP, angel investor, lifetime entrepreneur, and venture podcast host, Chris Howard specifically around the 11:20 mark of Forging the Future with Chris Howard: https://lnkd.in/g3kK6b46 Thank you Chris for having me on!
